Customized content for Unitarian Universalist Communities

DRUUMM Partnership

Keeping love at the center means acting with care and putting impact at the center: care about each other, our faith and how we are enacting our values. You know you have the best of INTENTIONS - are you aware of the IMPACT you have?

Since summer of 2024, Justice Movement has partnered with DRUUMM to offer customized intersectional allyship content, aligned with our Unitarian Universalist (UU) values and covenants. DRUUMM, the Diverse & Revolutionary Unitarian Universalist Multicultural Ministries, is the oldest and largest Unitarian Universalist People of Color ministry and anti-racist community organization based in North America.

Justice Movement co-founders Nat Nguyen and Danya Davis invited Atena Danner into Justice Movement to meet DRUUMM’s organizational needs when collaboration was initiated in 2024.

Nat, Atena and Danya have been leaders in the Social Justice Education spaces for multiple decades. Nat and Atena have a long background with Unitarian Universalist communities including organizing, facilitation,  fellowship, worship, poetics, education and anti-racism work. Danya has extensive experience facilitating and teaching globally related to public health, interfaith communities, racism (with a particular focus on educating white folks), and intersectionality. Danya serves as our chaos coordinator, as well as leading facilitation with White Allies in UU spaces. After years of doing facilitation work and activism in different parts of the country, Atena and Nat have come together and tapped into their personal experiences as UUs to ensure that Justice Movement offerings are impactful for Unitarian Universalists and responsive to the needs of BIPOC UUs. The Justice Movement team are proud to serve UU communities and support a more just and loving faith movement.

The Justice Movement-DRUUMM collaboration has served congregations, lay leaders, seminarians, professional clergy, and more, guiding dozens of UUs of all races toward specific and intentional allyship practices. Justice Movement has supported the DRUUMM staff and Steering Committee with strategic planning and fortifying allyship capacity among our leaders. We invite you to deepen your capacity for solidarity and learn more about the complexities of tackling tough topics related to intersectionality, positionality, and more alongside other learners committed to shared principles and values.

Atena, Nat, Danya are proud to serve their UU communities and support a more just and loving faith movement.

We are looking forward to journeying with you!

Justice Movement’s Offerings Customized for UU Communities

Intro to Allyship

Intro to Allyship is a stand-alone, interactive session that gives you a taste of what to expect in our comprehensive, four-part "Aiming for Allyship" series; you’ll be introduced to our intimate style of pedagogy, and learn how our dynamic approach to intersectional anti-racism education aligns with UU values.

Aiming for Allyship

Utilizing a strategic application of racial caucusing and “pod work” (connecting in small relational practice groups), Justice Movement’s Aiming for Allyship is a 12-hour, 4-part course of workshops which explores themes such as Intersectionality, Community Building, Nervous System Regulation, and Effective Allyship Practices, while highlighting UU principles and values and demonstrating practical tools to navigate "Calling In/Out," and our “How to Act as An Ally” resource. Courses are offered in the Spring and/or Fall with options to join a pre-arranged cohort or to organize an online course for your community and/or region

Peer Space Holder Intensive

We are excited to offer our core facilitation course, Peer Space Holder, newly customized for the UU community!  We will be announcing dates for this 21 hour course that takes place over multiple months soon! Let us know if you want to be informed about this exciting opportunity by filling out this brief interest form.

Events

Justice Movement facilitators have offered UU communities customized support for special events, including staff and leadership retreats, a keynote address at Starr King seminary, strategic support and training for ministers and lay leaders grappling with the impact of immigration enforcement issues, and facilitated community conversations about topics such as clarifying community commitments to supporting Palestine or combining/allocating resources across multiple congregations.

Customized consulting for your community / congregation

Offered as supplements to Justice Movement’s regular courses and programming, our Customized Consulting is adaptable by nature and a good fit for folks who would benefit from some outside perspective on workplace issues and more involved projects or who need support strategizing toward a culture shift. Available virtually, in-person, and via email; flexible pricing is available.

Social Justice Integram Cohort

A social justice overhaul program designed for a group of 6-8 organizations over 6 months.  The program is structured around a one-on-one intake form and 6 small group sessions to explore the diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging framework of your organization and its members.  Sessions prioritize relationship building while being analysis and solution driven. They will give you the tools, community and road map to better align with your values while doing this work in a cohort of other like-minded groups. Completing this program will demystify your way forward, unpack difficult issues and inspire you to make deep organizational shifts from the inside out.
